Confined Within: Ashes of a fallen kingdom
27/04/11 || Khlysty
Confined Within comes from England and plays, ehm, metalcore. And, since last night, I’m suffering from gastroenteritis: I won’t tire you with the details, all I wanna point out is that my organism is pretty fucked up and, thus, my tolerance for bullshit –already pretty low- has gone down a coupla notches. So, this is going to be short and to the point.
I don’t like metalcore or emocore or whateverthefuckcore this sorry excuse for music is supposedly called these days. I don’t like the hyper-compressed production job. I don’t like the vocals, which alternate between a constipated growl and lame cleans. I don’t like the riffs. I don’t like the piercing quality of the guitar tone. I don’t like the way the drummer uses his rolls, or the fact that the drums sound clearly triggered. I don’t like the fact that I cannot hear the bass.
I don’t like the useless acoustic intro, or the other instrumental track (if you guys wanna write instrumentals, at least make full compositions and not just a few seconds of music). I don’t like the occasional breakdowns. I don’t like the fact that a lot of kids would latch onto this kind music, ignoring other, much more important records that require a bit more of attention and exertion from the part of the listener.
I just don’t like Confined Within (also, now that I mention it, I don’t even like the band moniker…) and I don’t like the music they play. And, so should you…
